Over the last few days, the Orlando Sentinel’s Magic columnist Brian Schmitz and I each have profiled a prospect the Magic could select with the 19th overall pick. Now we look at an intriguing player who impressed in his one season in the Big East.
Moe Harkless
College: St. John’s
Pos.: SF
Ht./Wt.: 6-8/208
Highlights: Harkless was the Big East’s Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 2011-12. He started all 32 of the Red Storm’s games and averaged 15.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
He has good height and long arms, and those attributes give him the potential to be a valuable defender.
He won’t turn 20 until May, so he still has plenty of room to improve.
How he fits the Magic: Harkless probably won’t be available at the No. 19 pick. But if he is available, he would be difficult for the Magic to pass up because of his potential.
